Financial Awards & Scholarships

Nick Madaras Memorial Scholarship
The Madaras family has established an annual scholarship in Nick's honor, and the WSA helps administer the award. This scholarship recognizes 2 soccer players each year who best embody the leadership, commitment, sportsmanship and teamwork that characterized Nick’s contributions to the Wilton High School community and to his country. The scholarship awards each recipient with a check for $1,250. The recipients are honored, and the scholarship awarded, at the annual WHS awards banquet at the end of each school year.
The Soccer Scholar Athlete Achievement Award
The WSA has partnered with the Wilton High School Soccer Boosters to provide two annual $1,500 awards to two Wilton high school soccer players (one boy and one girl) for their contributions throughout their four years at WHS. These players will have demonstrated a strong commitment to soccer while maintaining high levels of academic achievement as well as providing leadership both on the field and in the community. The recipients are honored, and the scholarship awarded, at the annual WHS awards banquet at the end of each school year.
The Marshall Raidbard Memorial Award
As a member of the The Southwest District ("SWD”) of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (“CJSA”), the WSA participates with other SWD member clubs to offer an annual financial award. The application process and administration of the award is managed by the CJSA SWD. The CJSA SWD established the scholarship to honor Mr. Marshall Raidbard who served in a volunteer capacity as Vice President to the District for many years.  The amount of the award varies from year to year, but is typically in the range of $1,500-$2,000. The award is presented to graduating high school seniors pursuing a higher education that has been involved with a SWD program (player, referee, coaching). The number of awards granted will depend on the number of member clubs that sponsor the scholarship program.
