Overview of the Team Warrior Program
Fall 2018 Schedule
The Team Warrior Program's intent is to mirror many parts of the current coaching structure of travel soccer and offer players the same professional coaching opportunities in order to assist their skill and player development.
The aim of the program is to give players more touches on the ball, better experiences and support to aid their learning in the correct playing environment. Below is a breakdown of the key aspects of the program which is in its third season.
Two weekly practices
Warrior teams will train twice a week with both sessions lasting 1 hour 15 minutes and have a professional coach to run both sessions. Having a professional coach will also enable more developmental feedback to both players and parents.
Professional game day coaching
Warrior teams will have their professional coach at their weekly games on Saturday to support what they have been learning in practice and deliver a consistent message and allow for game day coaching to improve players tactical understanding of the game.
Although we will have professional coaches at games; we would still like help from volunteers as parent managers. The role is to assist the professional coach, provide administrative support (such as scheduling games and coordinating a Parent on Duty/POD schedule) and weekly communication with the team and opposition (parent manager). This role help provide a more positive experience for the all the team members parents.
Parent on Duty
Like travel practices Warrior teams will now require a parent on duty for practices which will be rotated between all members on the team during the season, this allows the professional coach to remain focused on development, while the POD focuses on the health and safety of player, contacts parents in case of emergency and ensures all kids are picked up.
