Mickey Kydes Soccer is the coaching organization for our Intramural Tots, Pre-K, and K-2 Programs.
Mickey Kydes Soccer is dedicated to providing youth soccer players with a top-flight soccer education. We will create a nurturing and supportive environment that will positively shape attitudes such as responsibility, work ethic, leadership and sportsmanship. Our consistent and challenging culture will develop in each player the technical, physical and emotional skills necessary to achieve success both on and off the field.
Mickey Kydes – Program Director
Mickey Played professional soccer from 1987 – 1996 in Europe and the United States, also a member of the United States National Team in 1987. Retired from professional soccer in 1996 from the NY/NJ MetroStars of Major League Soccer. Grew up playing youth travel soccer in Norwalk, CT where he played four years as a High School starter. Two-time All-American at Long Island University where he graduated with a degree in Marketing. President and Founder of Mickey Kydes Soccer (MKS), established in 1996 with over 300 children participating; MKS has now grown to over 5 thousand children participating in its various programs. Founder & Coaching Director of the Beachside of CT Boys Premier program established in 1994 which is only one of 80 clubs in the USA (USSDA) Academy League. He is a United States Soccer Federation ‘A’ and ‘Youth’ level licensed coach. Inducted in to the Long Island University Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008. Completed U.S. Soccer’s Technical Directors Course in July 2016 – Highest Coaching License available with the US Soccer Federation. Honored by New York City Soccer in March of 2017.
Paul Melitsanopoulos – Operations Director
Goalkeeper and 4-year varsity member for Norwalk High School coach by Kurt Simenson 2000-2004. Member of the 2002 FCIAC Championship team which was ranked 4th in the state of CT. Senior year, captain for Norwalk and was voted as ALL-FCIAC 1st team. Starting goalkeeper for beachside U-16 and U-17 and played for Brian Quinn, who currently coaches Bridgeport Univ. Three-year member of Western Connecticut State University men’s soccer team. Freshmen year, started off the year 5th in New England for Division 3 schools in the country. Sophomore year, member of Little East Conference Champions (LEC), NCAA participant. Team ranked in the top 10 in New England which captured a key win against Kean State in LEC playoffs, who were ranked top 20 in the country. Paul has been coaching for Norwalk since 2001 and working for Mickey Kydes soccer camps for 8 years. Paul has coached players ranged in ages from 4-17. Paul believes a good coach has a tremendous influence on his players not just in the game of soccer but in the real world as world. A Beachside (USSDA) Academy team head coach. A United States Soccer Federation ‘A’ & ‘F’ licensed coach. Coaching in the MKS organization since 2005.
Gabriel Stan – Tots & Pre-K Coaching Director
Grew up in Romania where he played for the Rapid Bucharest Juniors System. A member of the St. Pantelimon Soccer Academy. Has coached the Danbury Dynamo boy’s premier team and boys and girls travel teams for Wilton Soccer from 1998 to 2003. Worked at Transylvania soccer camps for the last several years. Coaching Director Westport SA travel teams and rec clinics since 2005. A Beachside (USSDA) Academy team head coach. He is a United States Soccer Federation ‘B’ & ‘F’ level licensed coach. Coaching in the MKS organization since 2003.
Peter Zaffina – K-2nd Grade Coaching Director
Peter is going into his 3rd season coaching with MKS organization. Growing up, he played Westport Travel soccer as well as constantly attending MKS summer camps. He continued to play soccer throughout high school and college, and eventually made the transition to coaching immediately after college. He graduated in 2011 from Southern Connecticut State University, with degrees in Exercise Science, Nutrition, and Wellness. In addition to coaching, Peter is also a personal trainer at Personal Training Professionals of Wilton, where he specializes in youth fitness. He is a United States Soccer Federation ‘F’ grassroots level licensed coach. Coaching in the MKS organization since 2013.
Ferid Zimic - Coach
Ferid is originally from from Bosnia & Herzegovina. He moved to the United States in the year 2000. After high school Ferid attended Sacred Heart University where he played NCAA Division 1 soccer. He graduated with a B.A. in Graphic Design. After college he worked as a manager at Goooal Sports Indoor Soccer Facility in Stratford, coaching young players of all ages. Ferid Coaches the 'Brazilian Squad' men's soccer team in the Connecticut Soccer League. Currently the Coaching Director for the Beachside Girls Premier Program. A United States Soccer Federation ‘A’ & ‘F’ licensed coach. Coaching in the MKS organization since 2007.
Shane Recklett - Coach
Shane spent his entire youth soccer career U12-18 as a standout player for Beachside Soccer Club. As a Shelton, Connecticut native, Shane was a 4-year varsity starter from 2002-2006 at Shelton High School where he received All-Area, All-Conference, All-State and All-American accolades as well as receiving the Tony DeNegri Outstanding Male Soccer Player of the Year award his senior season. In 2006, Shane graduated from Shelton High and went on to play NCAA Division I soccer for Quinnipiac University. Over his 4-year career at Quinnipiac, Shane received multiple All- Conference and All- Region team selections as both a central defender and central midfielder. After graduating from Quinnipiac in 2010 with a Media Studies major and a Sports Studies minor, Shane went on to further his playing career by signing his first professional contract with Germania Schöneiche, who compete in the Oberliga in Germany. In 2012, Shane was recruited and signed his next professional contract with VFC Plauen, who compete in the Regionalliga Nordost in Germany. Shane was a regular in the starting 11 for VFC Plauen and a strong presence in the center of the midfield, and in the winter of 2013 Shane was offered a contract with one of the biggest names in Hungarian soccer, Vasas SC. Shane signed with Vasas during the 2013-2014 season where he made 22 starts for the club in his first season. As a coach, Shane started his career when he was in college in 2008 and has a wealth of experience in all areas of youth soccer. A Beachside (USSDA) Academy team head coach. He is a United States Soccer Federation ‘C’ & ‘F’ level licensed coach. Coaching in the MKS organization since 2016.
Javier Miraballas - Coach
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay and raised in Trumbull, CT. Played soccer in Trumbull’s youth program and went onto to be a 4-year player, 3-year starter at Trumbull High School. A member of the Trumbull U19 premier team that represented CT in the US Region 1 competition in 1994. Went on to play 2 years at Merrimack College, Andover, MA; then transferred and played junior and senior years at Western CT State University, reaching the Division 3 NCAA tournament in 1998. Coached U9 and U10 boys travel teams in Trumbull and worked at various summer soccer camps before moving to San Diego. Coaching Westport SA travel teams since 2002. Current head coach Beachside U11 & U14 premier boys teams. Holds a United States Soccer Federation National ‘D’ & ‘F’ level licensed coach Coaching in the MKS organization since 2003.
Jemay Arias - Coach
Jemay was voted Most Valuable high school player in New York City. Played four years at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck New Jersey - Team Captain Senior Year. B.S Finance 1987 / FDU Hall of Fame. Played international tournaments at Lake Cuomo Italy, Zurich Switzerland, Helsinki Finland, Gotternburg Sweden, and also played in Colombia Copa Ciudad de Pereira. Coached at Tab Ramos and Staten Island Soccer programs and summer camps. Holds a United States Soccer Federation National ‘C’ & ‘F’ level licensed coach Coaching in the MKS organization since 2012.
George Caseras - Coach
George has played soccer for over 18 years in very competitive teams. He has played for premier clubs, located in Connecticut, Beachside, South Central, Newtown and Samba from 2000-2006. Playing for these premier teams, we traveled all over the east coast to play in top quality tournaments and college show cases. Playing for beachside we won state championship and qualified for regionals in 2004. In 2005, he has traveled overseas to play soccer in Europe for United States Soccer Academy. He has played in Italy and played against top premier teams. Throughout the years of playing, to get better at the sport, He has played college soccer for the University of Long Island, C.W Post campus 2008-2009. Certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist (AFPA). Holds a United States Soccer Federation National ‘D’ & ‘F’ level licensed coach Coaching in the MKS organization since 2014.
Wojciech Marek - Coach
Originally from Poland, moved over to the US in 1994. Attended Derby High School where he played Varsity Soccer. After Graduating High School attended Quinnipiac University where he played D1 soccer and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in International Business from Quinnipiac University. Still playing soccer in CCSL with Polonia Falcons in New Britain. This is his first year coaching for Beachside Soccer Club. Holds a United States Soccer Federation National ‘F’ level licensed coach Coaching in the MKS organization since 2016.
Rizvan Music - Coach
Rizvan is originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, moved over to US in 2015. He played soccer at 2 different local clubs growing up until U18. After graduating High school, he started being involved with U7/U8 teams helping out with basic development and stayed with the club until moving to United States. Second year coaching for Beachside Soccer Club U10/U11 Girls. Holds a United States Soccer Federation National ‘F’ level licensed coach Coaching in the MKS organization since 2017.
